PF Christian Negron (Mac Irvin Fire 17U – 2017)
Without Da’Monte Williams and Justin Smith it was Negron who was the lone high major prospect from the state of Illinois for the Fire. The 6’6” power forward used his quickness and agility against a physical Spiece frontline. Negron got to the hoop with several athletic moves including a sweet up and under. Banked in a jumper from the top of the key. He was solid on the glass fighting for 50/50 balls and also had a great weakside shot block. Remains a high major face up four man that will bring energy to a team at the next level.
PG Ayo Dosunmu (Mac Irvin Fire 16U – 2018)
It’s Ayo’s world and we are just living in it! The top lead guard in the 2018 class has been on a tear all spring and that continued on Sunday. We saw him put his team on his back in the quarterfinals to get them the win. He hit pull up threes, got to the rim with speed in transition, pushed it in the open floor, and made key plays defensively down the stretch. Without question a high major prospect.
SG Kezo Brown (Mac Irvin Fire 16U – 2018)
It’s starting to look like the old Kezo is back! The Simeon 6’2” lefty shooting guard had the best weekend of his career over the last year in Fort Wayne. He ripped off 26 points in the quarterfinal victory. Brown is aggressive as a scorer, but is doing it more in the flow of the offense. Great way to close a big weekend for the top 5 prospect.
PG Morgan Taylor (Illinois Fastbreak 16U – 2018)
We went to see Illinois Fastbreak to check out their star shooting guard Javon Freeman, but also came away impressed with Marist point guard Morgan Taylor. At 6’2” Taylor slices and dices getting in the lane. Effective finding shooters when getting to the paint. Also hit a three. One to put on the radar.
PG Markese Jacobs (Mac Irvin Fire 15U – 2019)
This Uplift 2019 has established himself as the top point guard in the state for his class in the early going. Jacobs had it going scoring in all ways. He is a consistent pull up jump shooter from both three and mid-range. You are actually surprised when they don’t go in. Attacks the cup with authority. Plays with a lot of speed and desire. Defensively gets up in his man and pressures at the point of attack.
