PF Jameel Alausa (All-In/Young & Reckless 17U)
The 6’7” power forward from Chicago U-High was particularly effective on Saturday where he almost single handedly kept his team in the game. Alausa is a long and athletic big that when he plays with a motor and high activity level is a game changer. Used his quickness to get on the glass and convert around the hoop. Presence on the defensive end as a shot blocker. Can put it on the deck a couple dribbles. Struggled a bit in the game we saw Friday. Without question has low-major ability.
PG Keondre Schumacher (All-In/Young & Reckless 17U)
The Normal U-High point guard is a sharp shooter from three. Plus catch and shoot guy that when he gets on fire can carry a team! Also effective pulling up from mid-range in the stop and pop game. Continues to make strides as a passer particularly in the open floor. Does have some turnovers from time to time. Low-major prospect for teams looking for a big time shooter from the lead guard spot.
SG Tyler Chisom (All-In/Young & Reckless 17U)
The tough wing has been pretty consistent this spring. He is a standout on the defensive end with his in your face mentality and active hands. Gets several steals a game. Rebounds well for his position and is powerful on the offensive glass for his size at 6’3”. Offensively he is best going downhill attacking the rim with authority where he scores or gets to the line. Jumper still needs some work. Low-major/D2 prospect. Also could be a quality JUCO candidate to elevate his stock.
SG Demarius Jacobs (All-In/Young & Reckless 17U)
Wing scorer at 6’3” that is thin and rangy. Jacobs is a superb athlete with a quick first step, smooth acceleration, and elite hops. He had several drives for dunks including one where he went baseline converting a spectacular jam. When he has the ball in transition he is fast and goes right for the rim where he has a nice feel of how to finish around the cup. Jump shot is starting to become more consistent although he can still have his cold streaks. Defensively he loves to come out of nowhere for a couple blocks a game. Potential defensively on the ball checking opposing wings. Mid-major prospect.
SG Henry Trelenberg (All-In/Young & Reckless 17U)
Trelenberg is a catch and shoot guard that is best spotting up from the wings and corners. When defenders draw in to the driver he is always in position to let it fly. Good strength and solid toughness. Needs to add more to his game on both ends of the floor to max out his ability. D3 prospect.
PF Manny Patterson (All-In/Young & Reckless 17U)
The state’s #2 power forward was playing with a new team this past weekend in Ft. Wayne. The 6’8” four man has broad shoulders and strength in his upper body. He was best as a rebounder snatching them with his strong hands while boxing out his man. Got on the offensive glass for several put backs. Flashes skill, but most of his points come on put backs or dump off passes from his guards. Hands need to improve catching bullet passes on interior as he drops a few. Should be under consideration at the mid-major level.
PF Christian Negron (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)
With no Da’Monte Williams and Justin Smith in Ft. Wayne Negron was the only one of the big three high major prospects from the state in attendance for the Fire. At 6’7” Negron is a face up four man that can handle it a couple dribbles attacking from the mid-post. When he uses his quickness against physical four men he is a quality scorer with quick spins and face up moves from the mid-post. Runs the floor hard in transition and is usually rewarded for it. Solid rebounder with a quick second jump to the offensive glass. Had one monster jam over multiple players for a put back slam. Defensively was active having a couple nice shot blocks. The high major program that allows Negron to play his natural position and play his game is going to get a steal!
PG Marcus Garrett (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)
Powerful guard from Hillcrest had his moments throughout the event. Garrett is best when attacking off the bounce and getting to the rim. Streaky shooter that can go on both hot and cold streaks sometimes in the same game. Defensively is good in the Fire’s full court pressure causing turnovers. D2/low-major prospect.
PF Lenell Henry (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)
Probably the best weekend we have seen out of this 6’8” power forward. He has a long and lanky frame. Good athlete that runs the floor effortlessly. The part that stood out was his dominance on the glass in spurts as well as his ability to finish around the hoop in multiple ways. Had several powerful dunks, but also flashed skill with a hook shot. Streaky mid-range shooter. High activity level defensively with a good motor and is a shot blocking presence. One to track closely for low-major schools.
