One such rising star with a strong ambition to strengthen his game this AAU season is Randallstown guard Nasir George of the 2018 Maryland class.
Following a good season with his high school, the 5-foot-9 guard has drawn interest from multiple levels of college basketball this spring.
One school from each of the major NCAA basketball divisions has had their interest peeked by the 2018 guard.
First, it was Division I George Mason and Division II Barton College; both teams went to see George play at a tournament at Spooky Nook.
“No official offers yet, but the Stevenson [University] coaches at the Big Shots tournament were checking me out,” said George.
Now with Division III Stevenson University now being his third interested school in the mix, the Randallstown guard has plenty of momentum to drive him this AAU season.
Thanks to his strong play with the Liberty Dream at such high profile tournaments as the Pitt Jam Fest, the interest has come his way.
“I average about 14 or 15 points per game. I average about 7 assists per game. Every game I’ve been getting looks and interests,” said George.
He adds, “[My best skills are] dribbling and creating my shot, well creating space to get up the shot, finding my teammates, getting them involved. I know how to get to the basket really well, and I have a good mid-range shot.”
Despite the guard being successful in many aspects of the game, he sees plenty of room for improvement over the summer.
“I need to get stronger. I’ve been doing a lot of strength and conditioning workouts. I need to get stronger and faster, increase my ball handling, and better my three-point shot. It’s a little off at times,” said George.
He has the ambition and work-ethic to rise quickly in the Maryland basketball rankings.
Alongside sounding very eager to play college ball, George is drawing interest from all three NCAA divisions, but he has his ceiling set high.
“I love the game. I want to play the game, but I’m interested in going D1.”
