A strong guard who is adept at getting into the paint and finishing efficiently in traffic, Mastadi scored 9 of his team-high 12 points in the first half during their final four win vs. Boo Williams EYBL. He showcased solid leadership intangibles, and his toughness was on display for all in attendance to witness.
In the 17U championship contest vs. We R 1, Team Loaded VA trailed by as much as 20 points in the second half. Mastadi authored some late heroics to bring them within 1 possession late in the game, by scoring 8 points in the span of about 90 seconds. Despite his valiant effort, his team came up just short and finished as the runner-up. Pitt was pleased with his overall performance this weekend.
“I think I played very well, I led my team,” said Pitt.
An underrated shooter from long range, Pitt demonstrated the ability to create space and hit at a high clip from beyond the arc. He did a great job penetrating the defense and going strong to the basket where he drew contact and earned several trips to the foul line. Longwood, Norfolk State, Cincinnati, Central Florida, James Madison, Saint Joe’s, Creighton, and Murray State are the main schools actively recruiting Mastadi at this time.
“They like the way when I go to the hole I’m strong, and the way I finish,” he stated. “I still need to get my body more in shape.”
He doesn’t plan to take any campus visits until August or September, but he will look to to carry the strong momentum he’s generated from this weekend into the upcoming live period. As he continues to develop his physique, he could emerge among the most coveted guards Virginia’s 2017 class has to offer.
