The explosive guard, who is running on the AAU circuit with Team Loaded VA 16U, has been a top performer at the 2016 Hoop Group Southern Jam Fest in Hampton.
Norfleet has helped his team start off 3-0 and advance to the elite 8 with convincing double-digit wins coming vs. Wake County Basketball Association, District Basketball Club, and Boo Williams. He displays maturity and poise well beyond his years at the lead guard spot, and shows that he clearly cares about winning.
“My game is Russell Westbrook-like, but not as athletic,” said Norfleet. “I can get above the rim, but not like Russ Westbrook.”
While his ability to get in the paint, along with his strength and body control when finishing are commendable, Norfleet has worked hard to polish other aspects of his offensive repertoire. He believes his hard work is beginning to pay off.
“My mid-range is underrated,” he stated. “I work really hard on that, and I think that’s pretty good.”
The physical tools are all there, along with the work rate and tenacity. Perhaps what’s most impressive about Norfleet is his overall knowledge of the game. He has a clear idea of the things he would like to improve, particularly on offense.
“I need to improve pull up 3 point jumper,” Norfleet explained. “Also knowing who’s hot and getting them the ball.”
Norfleet claims an offer from Saint Francis, and interest from schools such as James Madison, College of Charleston, Norfolk State, American, and Campbell. Given the strong momentum he’s been able to build so far this spring, it is a near certainty that an uptick in recruitment will follow suit.
