Sanders-Smith did give the Polars one of six double figure scoring options this winter scoring just under ten points a contest while also dishing out between 3-4 assists a game, grabbing 3-4 boards a contest, and shooting 49.5 percent as a guard for the state champions.
Jaquan and Grassroots MN is second in the south division of the NY2LA Basketball League a game behind Wisconsin Swing with a 6-1 record in the division (6-2 overall).
“I feel I have been playing real good and hard,” Sanders-Smith told NHR. “I need to faster get in shape, go to the basket and hit open shots, and keep confidence in my three-pointers.”
Jaquon is scoring 13.7 points per game in the NY2LA League shooting 47 percent from the floor. Some schools have noticed his play and have put in calls.
“I’m hearing from Drake, Western Illinois, Williston State, Cleveland State, and Bradley,” Jaquan told NHR.
What is next on the mind for him in the coming months as far as goals?
“To get a D1 offer, study for the ACT, and get my GPA higher,” Jaquan said.
And all of this will go to helping the Polars try and repeat their state title. Jaquan will return next winter with Odell Wilson (12.2 points and 3.9 rebounds a game), Isaac Johnson (12.3 and 4.8), Tayler Johnson (4.8 and 2.5), and Nasir El-Amin.
