Continue ReadingThe DII level schools, like most lower level programs, are a little slower to the gun to offer prospects than their DI counterparts. However, when you see them dish out an offer, there is probably a pretty good reason why.
For Emmanuel Little, he just picked up his first offer a few weeks back from Southern Indiana. It came a little out of left field but it could just be the first of a wave of offers and interest for the 6’6 forward from North Central (IN) High School.
“I love it actually,” Little said of his first offer. “I really appreciate the program for offering me. I don’t discriminate between DI, DII, or DII. Whatever place is for me and I’m comfortable with is for me.
North Central also has an in at Southern Indiana as former Panther Kevin Gant used to play and coach at North Central before becoming an assistant coach for USI this past season. Little said he already had “love for the coaching staff.”
USI isn’t the only program coming after Little, though. The power forward is drawing quite a bit of interest from programs like Morehead State, Wofford, IUPUI, LSU, Dueqense, Denver, and Indiana Wesleyan. Little says he plans to take his first visit down to Southern Indiana this June. He is also trying to setup dates to visit with Western Illinois and Indiana Wesleyan.
There isn’t a big secret for Little and why coaches have been impressed by the emerging forward. He’s a big, bruising guy who likes to play down in the post and at his ceiling he can be a guy that can pull in double-doubles without having to have a ton of plays run for him.
“I think I did alright,” Emmanuel said of his spring to date. “I could’ve done better. Right now I’m just trying to get comfortable and used to this new team.
When looking at potential breakout candidates, Emmanuel Little is high up on the list for this 2017 class. Coaches are watching closely and could pull that trigger sooner rather than later.
“How I play hard and do the dirty work that most people don’t notice,” said Little about the feedback he has gotten from college coaches about his game. “How I’m versatile when it comes to playing defense on some guards and forwards and how I crash the boards.”
