So far he’s been a big contributor to the Minnesota Comets who are one of the best teams in Minnesota’s Grassroots hoops scene this year.
“It has gone very well,” Derek said of the season. “We have been playing together well and the NY2LA is a very fun and competitive league.”
What does Thompson want to improve over the next three months with the Comets?
“The scoring aspect of my game. Knowing I can do the moves and having the confidence to do them. I feel I’m an improved shooter and defensive presence inside.”
Derek is hearing from four programs right now and hopes to hear from more.
“Bemidji State, Winona State, Sioux Falls, and Naval Academy,” Thompson said. “I need to continue to play at a high level and win a few tournaments with the comets. Also pick up some offers and narrow my college choices down.”
Derek gave 18 win Rocori 13.3 points and nine rebounds a game this past winter.
