He is running with Kessel Heat 16U this spring where he is one of the primary ball handlers. He is quick and twitchy with the rock in his hands being able to get in the lane where he likes to use a 15 foot jumper and runner to convert. Muhammad grew up a lot this high school season playing key minutes on a team that made it down state.
“Honestly it was unbelievable to go from the start of the season where I wasn’t even playing and once the state playoffs started I started every game. I was a big contributor. I trusted Coach Ping and one thing I learned from the end of the season was that I gained his trust. I will take that in to next season.”
What was the run to the 3A final four like?
“It was surreal. Nobody thought we would beat Fenwick and North Lawndale. We were kind of struggling at times, but ultimately we turned it up a notch in the playoffs.”
When his game is rolling what does he do best?
“I have a very good mid-range shot. I can attack the basket and facilitate. I play solid defense. That is a major key for my game.”
