PF TeeAaron Powell (Illinois Stars 17U)
The 6’9” Marian Catholic post played his best game of the spring to date. Powell has a long and lanky frame with a projectable body. He has struggled to find a rhythm this spring, but had his breakout game against Chicago Lockdown. Powell used an array of hook shots with both hands to score on the block. He played physical and aggressive. Used his length on the defensive end and high pointed rebounds. Right now a D2 prospect. If he plays like he did Sunday expect him to get serious low-major consideration.
SG Max Muller (Illinois Irish 17U)
Porta 2017 shooting guard has tremendous size at 6’6”. He has a chance to be one of the breakout candidates this upcoming high school season putting up huge numbers for his high school team. Also projects well for college with his size and ability to shoot the ball. Plus shooter from deep that can drill them off the catch. Moves away from the ball to get open. Much more than just a shooter he is a quality athlete that can get to the hoop off the bounce. Should be on the D2 radar.
SF Connor Niego (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
Another good day for the skilled 6’8” combo forward from Lyons Township. Niego had his jumper working hitting a few from mid-range pulling up as well as off the catch from three. Hit the glass and really passed it well! Also had a couple nice drives including a rip through where he took his man to the rim for a bucket. D1 prospect for sure that needs to be heavily tracked by low-major programs.
PG Laurence Merritt (TAW 17U)
Merritt is a 5’8” point guard that lets it fly! The St. Patrick’s 2017 prospect played off the ball quite a bit and was effective spotting up for threes. He had one stretch late in the first half where he was on fire from beyond the arc. Would like to see him be more of a floor general at his size. Small college prospect.
SG Ryan Kutsor (Kessel Heat 16U)
The Lake Zurich 6’3” shooting guard was lights out shooting the basketball on Sunday. Kutsor has solid strength and can really shoot it from deep. He is best off the catch. Showing growth in his game off the bounce and is tough mixing it up on the boards. Crisp movements and plays with a high IQ. Potential D2 prospect or high level D3/NAIA kid. He had 17 points in a win over Howard Pulley.
SG Lacey Watson (Quad City Elite 16U)
Watson is a 6’3” wing from Rock Island High School that is wired to score. He is shifty off the dribble and accelerates with the ball in his hands. Quick trigger and at times takes questionable shots, but with his slick handles gets in the lane fairly consistently. Streaky jump shooter that can knock down contested shots. Puts combination moves together and has hops in transition. Potential mid-major to low-major prospect in 2018.
