SG Max Muller (Illinois Irish 17U)
Porta 2017 shooting guard has tremendous size at 6’6”. He has a chance to be one of the breakout candidates this upcoming high school season putting up huge numbers for his high school team. Also projects well for college with his size and ability to shoot the ball. Plus shooter from deep that can drill them off the catch. Moves away from the ball to get open. Much more than just a shooter he is a quality athlete that can get to the hoop off the bounce. Should be on the D2 radar.
SF Doug Wallen (Illinois Irish 17U)
Wallen had a solid, but not spectacular weekend. He is probably the highest rated prospect on the Irish team. At 6’5” the St. Thomas More standout can shoot it from 15 feet out to three off the catch. Versatility is his calling card. Handles it well in open floor. D2 prospect with a high floor.
PG Devin Whitelow (Illinois Irish 17U)
Whitelow is the engine that makes the Illinois Irish train go on one of the most cohesive units in the state. What he lacks in height Whitelow makes up for in heart. He is a true floor general that sees the court and makes sound decisions with the basketball every time. Whitelow gets in the lane where he is a magician with the ball in the drive and kick game. Knows how to run a team in the half court while also pushing it in the open floor. Not a huge scorer. Game changer at the D3 level.
PF Brandon McCombs (Illinois Irish 17U)
McCombs had his best showing of the spring at the NY2LA Sports Invitational. The 6’6” four man from Jacksonville is a strongly built in his upper body. Is willing to bang on the interior and competes on the boards. Offensively shoots the ball well as a floor spacer. Particularly shoots it well from the baseline from 15 feet all the way out to the corner three. Flashes a post move every now and then backing his man in with strength. High level D3/NAIA prospect.
PG Aundrae Williams (Illinois Irish 17U)
Williams plays off the ball a lot for the Irish and defends the opposing teams top scorer. The 6’0” Springfield Lanphier guard is a tough on ball defender that gets in passing lanes off the ball. Good getting out in transition using his athleticism. Flahses ability as a passer driving in the lane and kicking. Williams projects as a D3+ prospect with D2 upside.
PF Taylor Bruninga (Illinois Irish 17U)
The 6’7” Illini Bluffs power forward is a stretch four man with size and length. Excels in the pick and pop game as well as spotting up from three. Shows some toughness on the boards. Needs to add a post game to max out ability. D2 upside.
SG Justin Fox (Mercury Elite Robinson 17U)
Fox is an unknown prospect from Dwight Township who opened eyes at the NY2LA Sports Invitational. At 6’4” the shooting guard is the go to player for Mercury Elite Robinson. The kid is a shot maker that takes and makes tough perimeter jumpers. Plus shooter from three off the catch. Shoots it across his face mechanically. Also showed a little shake off the bounce where he got to the line on occasion. Solid D3 prospect.
PF Jordan Gray (Kessel Heat 17U)
Gray is a tough 6’4” undersized post from York. He boxes out and is a quality area rebounder. Flashed ability to knock down a face up jumper on occasion. Small college prospect.
PG Jaalen Ray (Kessel Heat 17U)
Ray stands out with his physical body for a lead guard. Straight line speed and is crafty scoring in the lane. Not a great shooter. Small college prospect.
PG Brian Dorn (Kessel Heat Platinum 17U)
Dorn is a 6’1” point guard that hails from Prairie Ridge High School. The rising senior point guard was the man for the Kessel Heat Platinum team. He is a sound perimeter shooter that can knock them down consistently off the catch. Showed some shake with a nice up and under move. Worth taking a look at the D3/NAIA level.
