Wisconsin Dells Player of the Week 4/15-4/17
There were tons of worthy candidates for this week’s Wisconsin Dells Player of the Week award. Here are our five nominees. Make sure you vote through Wednesday night and check back to see if your favorite wins.
Nana Akenten (Illinois Celtics/Hoopers 17U)
Akenten was among the best prospects in Minnesota and he backed it up with his play. He had a 35 point performance on Saturday night where everything was working. Consistent production throughout event for Bolingbrook star.
Drew Evans (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
Unsigned senior elevated his stock by using his strength and athleticism to get to the rim for scores. Thornwood guard is also a sound shooter and quality defender. Consistently scored in teens all weekend.
Zach Couper (Team RWA 17U)
Couper used his smooth perimeter stroke and slick handles to put together a monster weekend. The 6’5” Rockford Boylan wing can really shoot the basketball from deep, but also showed a well-rounded game. Biggest outing we saw was his 24 point performance on Saturday.
PJ Pipes (Illinois Stars 17U)
Pipes is a power guard that uses his strength to get in the lane to score. Showed improvement in his decision making and consistency on the jump shot out to three. He went for 24 points in one game we witnessed.
Doug Wallen (Illinois Irish 17U)
Wallen is a versatile forward that brings his toughness and motor to the table. High basketball IQ and always makes the right play. Consistent production out of the St. Thomas More forward.
