SG Tim Finke (St. Louis Eagles 17U)
Finke was not 100% healthy, but the state’s top 2018 prospect more than held his own on Friday. At 6’6” the Champaign Central standout has great size for the position and has added some strength since we saw him even a few months ago during the high school season. He can shoot the ball from the perimeter off the catch from three with a clean stroke and elevation off the floor. Got out in transition where he converted several buckets. High level athlete that plays with a high IQ and is tough as nails. High major prospect and top 2018 in Illinois.
PG Ayo Dosunmu (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
When the Mac Irvin Fire 16U played at the main EYBL venue on Saturday Dosunmu showed high major coaches what we have been saying for the last year. The slick ball handling 6’3” lead guard got to the rim with ease against a quality E1T1 squad converting acrobatic layups. Showed range on his three point shot from deep with a free and easy release. Scored at will going for 25 points. High-major prospect and the top point guard in the class.
SG Talen Horton-Tucker (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
The 6’4” shooting guard continues to elevate his stock! Horton-Tucker doesn’t look the part at first, but he really impressed coaches with his game. The Simeon wing is the most productive 2018 prospect in the state. He does a little bit of everything with his versatile game. Doesn’t look overly explosive, but got up a few times for dunks including one over a guy. Rebounded at a high rate snatching boards and clearing with his elbows. Plus passer with feel and shoots it well off the catch from three. Mr. Intangible should see his recruitment pick up after this weekend.
SG Kezo Brown (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
This was the best we have seen Kezo play in well over a year. After a rough July followed by a non-existent high school season the lefty guard showed flashes of his old self. He had some trouble finishing in the lane, but really shot it well from the perimeter pulling up for threes. At times settled for it, but he was knocking them down with some consistency. That is the key word with Brown. We need to see him do this consistently over the next three months.
SG Joffari Brown (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
Thick bodied and power wing. Brown is a plus pull up mid-range shooter. Actually showed some improvement athletically including an up and under.
PF Messiah Jones (Meanstreets 16U)
The Simeon 6’6” standout was great in his head to head match up with the state’s top 2019 prospect Francis Okoro who is four inches taller. What makes Jones such an intriguing prospect is his long and angular frame. He should continue to grow over time. Jones is great at hitting the offensive glass with an explosive second jump. He gets a lot of his points on put backs. High energy guy that plays with a motor. Tough and really competes. Shot blocking presence on defense with quickness. Needs to be on the D1 radar.
PG Camron Donatlan (Meanstreets 16U)
Slick ball handler from West Aurora continues to elevate his stock. The lefty lead guard has a feel for the game and plays with good pace. Great handles and is quick with the ball. Can hit an occasional jumper. Elevated stock this spring.
SF Devonire Glass (Meanstreets 16U)
Rangy small forward at 6’6” wing from Simeon flashed some of his upside in Indy. He had a nice jab step that set up a mid-range jumper. Got to the free throw line and showed potential as a wing defender. Biggest thing with him is turning the flashes in to consistent production. D1 prospect for sure.
