Continue ReadingAberdeen Central qualified for the state tournament this year and went 18-8 overall. It was a strong season for a balanced roster that included several weapons including 6-foot-7 center TJ Allam.
Along with guard teammates Anthony Backmeier and Cannon Hannigan as well as sophomore Cole Bergan, Allam represented his team as an All-ESD honored player his senior year. Bachmeier was the lone first team member while Allam and the rest were named honorable mention. Aberdeen Central was the only team that had four players honored.
All four of the players averaged double figures including Allam who was between 10-11 a contest. Central coach Brent Norberg talked about the season that Allam had.
“TJ had a great senior year,” Coach Norberg told PHD. “He has improved every year he has been in our program.
“He was such a solid kid. I never had to tell him anything twice. He was one of the most coachable kids I have ever had. He is what you want High school athletes to be.”
With size and a high level of character TJ has a chance to play college basketball. Coach Norberg talked about his improvements as a senior.
“He continued to improve his offensive skill level and athleticism. He will have to continue to improve his range as a shooter (at the next level). He was one of the best team and individual defenders we had.”
At this point there are two programs talking to Allam about playing for them next year. “Dakota Wesleyan and South Dakota Tech ,” Coach Norberg told PHD.
