Continue ReadingJoliet West 2017 point guard Teyvion Kirk has elevated his stock significantly in the last 6 months. After a quality high school season he is putting up numbers on the circuit from the lead guard spot for All-In/Young & Reckless. At 6’2” Kirk has a thin, angular, and rangy frame. He is quick off the bounce and gets in the lane with ease. Slick ball handler that has improved his ability to put combination moves together to beat a defense. Works well around ball screens where he turns the corner and attacks the rim with speed. Gets to the foul line at a high rate where he shoots it well. Plus mid-range game. Kirk has a solid feel and continues to improve as a distributor particularly in the half court. Defensively he is a pesky on ball defender that causes havoc at the point of attack. Kirk is making a run up the point guard board in the 2017 class and should be looked at by mid-major and low-major programs.
The guard spoke about his high school season.
“We made it to the elite 8. Unfortunately we lost before we could make it to state. We have a lot of young talent and plan on making it to state.”
How did he think he played individually?
“This year I played well. Improved on my point guard skills and knocking down jump shots. I am going to make a name for myself this summer.”
He currently holds one offer from Chicago State. Expect that to change soon. He updated us on his recruitment.
“I am hearing from St. Louis, Valpo, Northern Colorado, and Western Illinois. A lot of mid-majors.”
