Continue ReadingKentucky’s 2nd-ranked 2017 Steven Fitzgerald recently picked up two Division I offers, giving his three total, and could end his summer with many more.
The 6-foot-4 Somerset Southwestern shooting guard already had one offer from Tennessee Tech before picking up offers from Samford and Southeast Missouri State.
He’s also seeing some interest come in from high-major programs.
“I have interest from Louisville, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, VCU, Indiana, and that’s about it,” said Fitzgerald. “I’ve been on unofficial visits to Louisville, Clemson, Indiana, and Arkansas Little-Rock.”
His hot start to the summer should come as no surprise, especially after what he was able to accomplish during his sophomore season with the Warriors.
“I basically played every position, whether it be down low or outside of the perimeter. I averaged 22 points per game, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, it was a pretty solid year,” said Fitzgerald. “I was our main contributor on the court. I was our go-to guy I guess you could say. If we needed a bucket they would draw a play for me and I would try and execute it.”
Now, the highly sought-after prospect is spending his 17U summer with the Louisville Magic.
“My main job on the team is to score the basketball; pull-up 3s, attack the basket, shoot pull-ups, just do whatever I need to do to get a bucket. And then just help out with the rebounding,” said Fitzgerald.
“I’m hoping to get more high-major looks this summer, and I know I could go mid-major, but I’m trying to go high-major.”
