The most obvious is Romeo Langford, however, Sasha Stefanovic matched his total offers with four and has now become one of the most popular names in the Midwest among DI programs.
The 6’4 wing has arrived after picking up offers from DePaul, Northern Kentucky, Xavier, Illinois State this week. The biggest and first of the bunch is Xavier. The Big East program had Assistant Coach Travis Steele and Head Coach Chris Mack on hand down in Dallas to watch his EG10 team on the adidas Gauntlet.
“I’m super excited with them obviously being a major school,” Stefanovic said of his Xavier offer. “The level they play at is what I strive to be at.”
The four offers he picked up go along with the seven Division 1 offers he already had in hand. Ball State, Indiana State, Evansville, IUPUI, Brown, Columbia, Holy Cross were already in on the Crown Point (IN) product.
This past weekend, Sasha said he didn’t start as well as he wanted to but his numbers at the end of the weekend were solid. He scored 22 points against Juice All-Stars and 23 points against D1 Minnesota. In those two games, he shot 16 of 29 from the field and 8 of 16 from behind the arc.
“My first two games I thought I played very bad,” Sasha said of his first weekend on 17U adidas Gauntlet. “But once I settled in and played my game, I thought I played very well.”
The level of competition at these shoe company events is stellar and it challenges you in different ways. Stefanovic said it was “difficult” but in a good way.
“It’s difficult, but everyone can play which makes it more competitive,” Sasha said. “It’s a good challenge for anyone in the Gauntlet.”
