As the state’s 33rd-ranked 2017, Flowers is certainly one of Michigan’s top guards. And though he holds no offers yet, he has college interest coming in from low to high-major Division I programs.
“Right now my strongest interest is from Cornell, Stanford, Kent State, Oakland, Detroit — mostly mid-major schools right now. And my coach talked to Iowa State about me. He said they asked me about some film, and my stats. Stanford sends me letters, they just sent me a letter last week about their new coach,” said Flowers, who mentioned which schools are most frequently in contact.
“Cornell is definitely the school that is showing the most interest in me, their coach calls me and talks with me frequently. And after that I’ve received the most mail from Stanford.”
A good-sized guard with an all-around game, Flowers defined his style of play to PHM.
“I’m good at driving and attacking the basket because I’m a bigger guard, and I can shoot as well,” he said. “I’m good at looking for my teammates, and being a bigger guard helps with that too.”
He’ll be spending his 17U season on the Under Armour Association circuit with 1Nation 17U.
“The biggest thing I need to work on is my speed and my defense. And this spring and summer I’m trying to just get as much exposure as I possibly can so I can pick up some offers,” said Flowers. “And then really I just want to win tournaments, and win the Under Armour circuit”
As the starting point guard for his team, it will be Flowers’ responsibility to be a leader on the floor, and he says he’ll give it his all each time out.
“My coach wants me to be the person who tells everyone where to go and to be the leader on the team because I’m the starting point guard for the team,” said Flowers.
“It’s my last year of AAU, so I need to go now or not at all, so I’m playing my hardest right now and just trying to get an offer — it’s really a priority.”
