He has great size for position and length that allows him to be effective on the defensive end and crashing the boards. Offensive skill game is still in the development stages, but he is very effective running the floor in transition and getting points in an up and down game. Plays above the rim. High ceiling and this could be a candidate to breakout this spring on the travel team circuit.
Burrell was injured early in the season, but has come back to make an impact.
“I started the season off missing about five games, but I am getting back into it. I think the season has gone well. I am playing well. I am picking up and trying to get my rhythm back.”
What is his role on the team?
“My role is to run the floor, get dunks, offensive rebounds, and play really good defense.”
He told us a few areas of his game he is looking to improve.
“I am trying to improve my jump shot and ball handling.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“My only offer is UIC, but Wisconsin Green Bay and St. Louis are looking at me.”
He has a close relationship with his lead recruiter at UIC.
“I know Chin (Coleman). He is a really good coach. I have had a relationship with him for a few years.”
