The 2017 recruit shows his versatility with his ability to use his athleticism and length to his advantage. He is a big time athlete that excels in the transition game as a finisher. Also finishes well around the hoop using his quickness on the interior. Flashes skill attacking from the mid and high post area. Quality rebounder with even more upside on that end. High academic kid that needs to be on the D1 radar.
He spoke about his junior year from a team and individual standpoint.
“I think it went pretty well. We made it pretty far in the playoffs. We had a young group of guys so we tried to gel together. We played hard and I think we will go even further next year. I tried to play consistent each game. No down games. I worked on my shot a lot and tried to be a better ball handler. Be more all over the floor and use my energy.”
How would he describe his game when he is at his best?
“I think when my game is really rolling I can get to the rim pretty easily. I am good at using hesitation and taking my man. I usually have a bigger defender on me so I can take them off the dribble.”
Alausa updated where his recruitment stands.
“I am hearing from a lot of Ivy League schools and Horizon League schools. I have UIC and North Dakota offer. I have been hearing from Davidson, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, Brown, and Cal Poly.”
UIC has made him a priority.
“They are a good group of guys. They are on the rise. They have a lot of new recruits. I like coach McClain and what he is advertising to me. Also it is right here in Chicago.”
North Dakota is the other program to offer him.
“I have talked to the coach one time. They are trying to get a core group of guys. I haven’t done too much research, but I like what the coach said.”
Ivy League schools Princeton and Yale also offered after the first live period. How much will academics play into the school he chooses?
“It will play a huge role. I am very hard on myself academically. I try to do my best in school. People can’t take academics away from you. I want to go to a good academic school and play at the highest level possible.”
