Rated the No. 7 prospect in Prep Hoops Indiana’s top 60 for the class of 2019, the 6-foot-3 guard has taken unofficial visits to Xavier and Purdue and attended Hoosier Hysteria this past year.
“I’m just enjoying the process (of recruitment),” he said. “Getting to see schools and campuses and enjoying everything that comes with it. Trying to keep an open mind right now and not expect anything too big, too small and keep a level head.”
The freshman has a gathered this interest by showing a strong ability to attack the basket. He prefers to go crossover to his left but can use his right hand, too. He also has the ability to shoot and is continuing to propel his game forward as the summer AAU season progresses to try and garner more interest.
“Just working on ball handling, ball handling, ball handling,” Hemenway said. “All aspects mostly, but ball handling because I know I’ll probably be a point guard at the high level so have to keep strong handles so I can get to the rim and distribute to my teammates.”
The college coaches also like the intangibles he could bring to the program.
“I can come out from the start and spark energy,” he said. “I feel like I just bring leadership and in order to win you have to bring that.”
