Ranell Crossland to Eastern Illinois
John A Logan 6’6” sophomore small forward Ranell Crossland made his commitment on Sunday night. The highly rated JUCO wing committed to Eastern Illinois. He broke down the decision.
“The reason I chose to further my career at EIU first is because of the amazing coaching staff they have. Made me feel like family and they really knew me as a player and person outside of basketball. Also I know a couple players from home who compete at a high level and want to win. Especially Cornell Johnston. We grew up as kids together and we always said what if we played on the same team? That would be scary. Now it’s actually happening. Also the coaches know what I can bring to the table and I know they can help better me as a player. With the group of guys they already have plus the people they are bringing in now we can really be something special and I just couldn’t pass up on such a great opportunity. Can’t wait to compete in the OVC and try to become a part of history.”
Crossland has a lot of tools that are intriguing at the next level. The sophomore is a 6’6” wing that looks the part with his strength and long arms. He shows potential as a wing defender and knocks down catch and shoot jumpers.
This past season he averaged 11.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 47% from the field and 41% from three. Quality pick up for Eastern Illinois!
