G Jimmy Sotos (Young Legends 17U)
The 6’2” Conant combo guard was unstoppable in the first half with his three point shooting. He hit four threes off the catch with great form and elevation off the floor. Excellent shooter when spotting up and his big man was consistently finding him for triples. Also had a couple creative passes on the interior. Prospect that is gaining some steam at the low-major level.
SG Marco Pettinato (Young Legends 17U)
This 6’2” Lincoln Way West shooting guard is coming off a monster junior season where he led his team to the state championship game. He is a tough and gritty shooting guard that has a stocky body. Crafty with the ball in his hands. Also shoots it well from three off the catch. Needs to be on the low-major radar.
C Cameron Krutwig (Young Legends 17U)
The 6’9” center from Jacobs wasn’t 100% healthy which was evident in warm ups as he was limping around. When the game started though he went to work! The big bodied and physical center is a load down low with his strength and mass. Gets deep post position, has quality footwork, and can score with hook shots using both hands. The area he was most impressive was his passing. Krutwig found his shooters out of the post cross court multiple times with passes right on the money. Area rebounder that gobbles them up. Mid-major and low-majors in need of a center from Illinois this is your guy!
SF Trevian Bell (Illinois Wolves 17U)
Bell is a big and physical wing from Joliet West. He has had a big start to the spring on the UA circuit with the Illinois Wolves. The quality athlete has a good frame and upside as a scorer. He is most effective slashing to the hoop and attacking the off the bounce. Really likes to work on the baseline getting to the rim. Rebounded well snatching them out of the air. Mid-major prospect.
SG Carson Newsome (Illinois Wolves 17U)
There has been some buzz with this Waukegan wing over the last two weekends. Newsome is a long and rangy wing that is at his best on the defensive end where he uses his length and lateral quickness to be effective. Offensively he hit a deep three showing some improved mechanics. Impressive move where he shot faked, drove a couple steps, and converted with a floater. Newsome also had a sweet out of bounds pass for an assist. One we will be watching closely next weekend at Run N Slam.
