Continue ReadingCrawfordsville came in trying to avenge their 25 point loss to Tri-West earlier this year and almost got it done with a hot start. Crawfordsville hit 5/7 from deep in the first and forced 7 Tri-West turnovers to take a 16-5 lead. They extended that to 27-16 midway through the second quarter but could not score anything from there.
Tyler Watson led Tri-West back into it though sparking a 22-6 run over the next 11 minutes to take a 38-35 lead into the fourth quarter. Crawfordsville hit 12 3s on the night and had a lead 46-44 with under two minutes remaining. Tri-West just used their height to their advantage and forced a few turnovers to take the win 51-46.
Top Stat Lines:
Tri-West
Tyler Watson – 23 points
Peyton Hendershot – 11 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks
Derek Lucas – 5 points, 2 rebounds
Crawfordsvlle
Cameron Harris – 23 points (5/6 3s), 2 rebounds, 3 assists
Devin Guard – 8 points, 4 assists
James Gineris – 6 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds
Player of the Game:
Peyton Hendershot – 6’4 – Junior
I chose Hendershot as the player of the game because while he did not have a big scoring night he really helped them defensively. Hendershot clogged the lane in the second half and had three late blocks that really sealed the deal. Without his rebounding and defense Tri-West would not have won this game.
Next up:
Tri-West will play Western Boone on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
Crawfordsville finishes 9-14.
