Top Performers: Vantage Hoops Spring Showcase (Seniors Part 2)
The Vantage Hoops Spring Showcase was held the day after the VHSL state championships at Potomac High School in Dumfries. It featured 55 of the most underrated players in the state, ranging in classes from seniors to freshman. The day included head shots, skill development stations and live games. Last week, we named 10 of the top senior performers from the event. Below you will find 10 more seniors who deserve mention as a result of strong play.

Guards
Jeremiah Delaney – Osbourn
Delaney thrived in the open court where he enjoys using his burst and acceleration to drive and either create for his teammates, or use his superb athleticism to finish strong at the rim. He showed great anticipation defensively, and was repeatedly seen in the passing lanes.
Shamar Johnson – Potomac
Shamar has a great feel for the game to go along with an accurate and confident perimeter jump shot. He demonstrates poise and very good vision when on the ball, and does well to make himself available off the ball. His mid-range game is exceptional, and he’s an active and underrated defender.
Devin Nordike – Stonewall Jackson
Perhaps the best pure shooter in attendance, Devin Nordike displayed in the gym range all afternoon at Potomac. He knows how to get to his spots, and has good size to go along with a quick release. It’s not easy to find a better available dead-eye shooter around these parts.
Gus Rowland – Henrico
Gus had coaches buzzing all afternoon and quite possibly put on the strongest and most consistent overall performance by any guards in attendance. He’s a super skilled and extremely crafty ball handler with good vision and underrated strength and explosiveness when finishing at the basket. Defensively, he anticipates well and grades as a strong rebounding guard.
Quron White – Osbourn
Quron is a terrific perimeter jump shooter who enjoys locking up his opponents while on defense. He’s an unselfish guard who creates for teammates, but can also score it in quick spurts when called upon. He’s a tough, high IQ guard with the intangibles you look for in a floor general.
Chris Woolridge – Liberty Christian
Chris is a big, shifty guard who displayed an exceptional skill-set at Potomac. He showed the ability to score it at all three levels offensively, while being aggressive defensively. One of the more underrated players in the class of 2016, he should excel either on-or-off the ball at the next level.

Forwards
Devante Bailey – Potomac
Devante attacked the rim strong and finished aggressively on his home court, throwing down dunk after dunk while he streaked up and down the open floor. He’s got a great motor, and does a nice job on the glass. His quickness makes him versatile defensively, where he’s able to guard both on the perimeter and in the post.
Jeffrey Gordon – Potomac
Gordon was efficient and strong when finishing around the basket at the Vantage Hoops Spring Showcase. He demonstrated a confident jumper which is featured in his improved skill-set. His athleticism and versatility was on display defensively as he was responsible for a series of blocks, deflections and steals.
Cameron Marinnie – Osbourn Park
Cameron is a highly productive forward with a great feel and understanding of the game. He’s an unselfish player with underrated vision and passing skills, but also has a nice scoring touch. He’s got great size, at about 6-foot-3, and can stretch the floor from beyond the arc off the catch.
Deng Nhial – Wakefield
The Capitol Conference Defensive Player of the Year was often seen doing what he does best, swatting and altering shots while patrolling paint. He did an outsanding job crashing the boards, and running the floor where he finished strong at the rim on several occasions. Deng’s perimeter jumper notably looked as consistent and smooth as ever.
