The Best Of Games:
The Most Competitive Sectional: Boonville Sectional (4-point combined margin of victory between the two games.)
The Complete Dominance: Lawrence Central over Indianapolis Tech, 77-55
The Biggest Upset: Indianapolis Northwest over Indian Creek, 65-58
The All–Chalk Night: North Knox Sectional (Eastern Greene over Mitchell, South Knox over North Knox)
The Biggest Blowout: Liberty Christian over Anderson Prep, 96-30
The “Here We Go Again” Team: Fort Wayne Dwenger over Fort Wayne Concordia
The “Upside-Down” Sectional: Benton Central Sectional (Benton Central over Peru, Western over West Lafayette)
The “Game-Winner” Game: Terre Haute South over Mooresville (Jaylen Minnet three at the buzzer)
The “Finally Over The Hump” Game: Southport over Indianapolis Pike, 53-46
The “One Team I Didn’t Expect To Lose” Team: Valparaiso over Merrillville, 66-59 OT
The Game That Failed To Score Points: Eastern (Greentown) over Madison-Grant, 26-17
Team Of The Night:
Valparaiso – I didn’t post it but I guessed that Merrillville would end up getting to the state title game against New Albany in 4A. That was my prediction. Now, I know Valpo has been playing well but I really didn’t think that Merrillville would fall. Props to head coach Barak Coolman and his guys on a big win. Not only that, you get a nice matchup with 9-15 Portage on Friday before another big test in the Championship game. It took overtime to do it but the 66-59 win over Merrillville was impressive.
Player Of The Night:
Jaylen Minnett (Terre Haute South) – Could have gone with Luke Gohman who had a game-winner or Campbell Donovan who dropped 30 points in a win but really tough to beat a game-winner after being up as much as 13 points in the fourth quarter. Minnett knocked down a triple after being down by 1 points as time expired. Terre Haute South was up 13 after the third quarter but Mooresville came firing back and was up 1 with 2.1 to go before Minnett hit a fadeaway three to get the thrilling win. You can watch the video here.
