He is currently Michigan’s 88th-ranked 2017, and though he plays primarily in the post for Ann Arbor Pioneer, he likes to showcase his perimeter skills during the offseason with Common Bond
With his 17U season quickly approaching, Currie says he’s not too concerned about his recruitment, and is confident that if he plays the way he can, it will take care of itself.
“I’m getting some stuff from a few D3 schools. I got some contact from Alma, and they invited me to one of their games and want me to meet their coaches. And I went on a visit to Case Western (OH) too — so schools like that art looking at me,” said Currie.
“I’m not really too worried about it, and if I play the best I can it’ll come to me — that’s kind of how I view it.”
Currie defined exactly what is it that he likes to do when he’s out on the floor.
“I like to play more of like a stretch-four position, but for high school ball I play the five, so I have post abilities and shooting abilities. And defensively I can use my length to block shots and stuff like that,” said Currie, who explained where he’ll work to improve this spring and summer.
“My ball-handling needs to improve. It’s definitely improved since freshman year. I’ve just been dribbling with weighted balls, and using cones and stuff like that.”
