“My senior season was very memorable,” said the Wayzata big. “Growing up through travel and getting to play with some of my best friends has been an amazing experience.
“My favorite memory was watching our team develop to the point of being able to take down Hopkins. Despite my hip injury and limited playing time, I was very happy to take on my role and support my teammates.”
Lauer played in about half the games and was productive and many remember him playing with Minnesota Heat Wayzata with his low post skill and strength in the post.
“I think my jump shot improved quite a bit this year,” Joe explained. “I also learned a lot about doing what’s best for the team whether that be pushing my teammates in practice or supporting them from the bench.”
Joe is another in a long line of 2016 talents that could be in a UST purple jersey next year.
“I plan to attend St. Thomas next year and whether I play college hoops is still up in the air,” Lauer said. “Regardless of whether I try out for the team I will definitely be working on my strength and post skills over the summer so that option will be available to me.”
