PG Grant Wolfe (Effingham – 2017)
Wolfe is coming off a monster junior campaign at Effingham. He is a crafty 6’0” point guard that knows his strengths and how to utilize them to his advantage. Wolfe is great at using hesitation and slick ball handling to keep the defense off balance before he blows by them to get to the hoop for a layup or runner. Plus pull up mid-range shooter that is definitely a go to weapon for the southern Illinois guard. Quality distributor at the point guard position. Wolfe should be given a look by low-major programs. Quality D2 prospect.
SG Noah Frederking (Okawville – 2017)
Frederking was one of the top prospects in attendance. The 6’4” wing has a strong frame and is known for being a plus shooter from the perimeter. His shot wasn’t on as much as it usually is on this day, but he scored in other ways. The 2017 guard was impressive using his strength and physical upper body to score in the lane. He attacked more off the bounce than we have seen in the past out of him and was strong with the basketball. Projects as a potential low-major prospect and is definitely a kid that D2 programs should be monitoring.
G Justin Shadowens (Marion – 2017)
Shadowens is a 5’11” combo guard that can really shoot it from the perimeter. He has an effortless looking stroke that he can knock down both off the catch and pulling up from mid-range. The guard is especially effective moving without the ball and getting it off with a quick release from three. He is going to be a great small college prospect at the next level.
SF Ethan Partridge (Eldorado – 2017)
Partridge was a new name that emerged with his play at the camp. The 6’4” small forward has a strongly built frame. He does everything crisply and with a purpose. Sound pull up mid-range jumper from 12-15 feet and had a nice spin move in the lane. Wing to watch as a senior. Small college prospect to put on radar.
SF Jacob Donaldson (Effingham – 2017)
Donaldson was one of the breakout stars of the day. The 6’6” forward showed flashes during the high school season when we saw him, but he played mostly on the interior. The 2017 prospect showed he could handle the ball attacking the cup. Super bouncy off the floor. Long arms and projectable body. Played with a motor and competed defensively. D3/NAIA prospect with room to grow.
C Jacob Pfeiffer (Springfield Lutheran – 2017)
Pfeiffer provides a commodity that is just not available across the state of Illinois in various classes and that is legit size and strength at the center position. Pfeiffer goes 6’8” and 220 pounds. He plays strong around the hoop and has a soft touch with his shots around the basket. Has potential as a mid-range shooter although it needs a little work mechanically. While not a great athlete his mobility has improved since last season. Should find a home at the D3/NAIA level as a quality big. With a huge summer could emerge as a D2 candidate.
SG John Keeler (Centralia – 2018)
Keeler played a complimentary role for the Orphans this past season, but showed when he becomes an upperclassman he can take on a bigger role. The 2018 prospect stands at 6’2” with plus athleticism. Excelled in the scrimmage getting up and down in the transition game. Accelerates with the ball in his hands and plays with reckless abandon.
SF Landon Wolfe (Effingham – 2019)
This is the younger Wolfe. He played limited minutes on the varsity level last year as a freshman. The 2019 prospect stands at 6’3” with a physical body. He plays with a great intensity level and motor. Wolfe makes crisp cuts and takes quality angles going to the hoop. He got to the rim and scored on the interior in both the half court and as a wing finisher in transition.
PG Cameron Bowlby (Marissa – 2019)
Bowlby is a slick handling 5’10” lead guard that can get in and out of traffic with ease. Pushes it in transition with tremendous speed. He was a standout in the drill work especially in the ball handling portion. Streaky shooter that needs some work mechanically to get it more consistent. Definitely upside here with this exciting floor general.
F Lamontay Daughtery (DuQuoin – 2020)
One of my best friends coached against Daughtery last year in 8th grade and said he looked like Randy Moss out there. Physically he is definitely impressive. At 6’5” the 2020 prospect has long arms and a lanky frame. He totally has the prospect look. Gets up and down the floor with ease and is oozing with potential. Can do a little bit on both the interior and perimeter, but has not really defined himself yet as a three or four. The combo forward needs to tighten his handles up to become a threat attacking on the perimeter, but there is no doubt he has tons of upside. Defensively he had one huge swat that was outstanding coming out of nowhere. By far the best long term prospect at the camp and has the potential to be among the top players in his class across the state.
