SF Jayson Tatum (Chamindade, MO – Duke)
The nation’s top prospect proved exactly why against the best competition in the nation. At 6’9” the silky smooth small forward can score at all three levels. His mid-range game was particularly effective as he was using his jab step and creating separation to get it off on a consistent basis. Tatum had a few nice finishes above the rim, passed it well, and competed on the defensive end.
SF Josh Jackson (Prolific Prep, CA)
Jackson did what Tatum was doing on the court next to him for the West squad. The supremely athletic and strong small forward is incredibly explosive with the ball in his hands. His blow by ability off the bounce is very impressive. The elite athlete is powerful getting to the rim, but can also hit from mid-range pulling up although he does have a bit of a hitch at the top of his release point. Defensively he has a chance to be special.
C Udoka Azubuike (The Potter’s House Christian, FL – Kansas)
Baby Shaq was trying to tear rims down on Monday morning! The 6’11” 270 post is a physical beast that played with a high motor in the practice running the floor hard and dunking offensive rebounds finishing around the hoop. Hit the glass well on both ends of the floor. Powerful post that needs to work on his skill level, but raw power is unquestioned.
C Zach Collins (Bishop Gorman, NV – Gonzaga)
Collins was the surprise of the day. The west coast 7’0” center is very light on his feet getting up and down the floor. Collins showed athleticism around the hoop with his ability to get on the glass for put backs and dunks. Has some face up ability out to 15 feet. Defensively had an impressive block on Josh Jackson.
PF Tony Bradley (Bartow, FL – North Carolina)
Always been a huge fan of Bradley. The underrated 6’10” post just produces. He did it again on Monday. Bradley shoots a high percentage from the field with his post touches on the block. He has a soft touch and great footwork on the interior. Crafty post that just knows how to get the job done. Improved mobility some. Post defense was solid for the North Carolina commit as he is tough to back in and stays straight up making it tough for opponents to get shots off. Solid area rebounder.
C Marques Bolden (Desoto, TX)
Bolden was outstanding for the West squad. His ability to finish with both hands around the hoop with tremendous mobility was impressive. He used a variety of fakes to keep the defender off balance and get his post shots off. Volume rebounder that has a chance to get double digit rebounds from the jump next year in college. Plus post defender that anchors and can block shots. One of elite uncommitted prospects nationally.
PG Frank Jackson (Lone Peak, UT – Duke)
The Duke point guard commit showed more athleticism than I have seen out of him in the past. He is a crafty ball handler that is slick getting in the lane where he can finish or dish. Excellent passer with feel and vision. Also displayed nice body control around the rim.
PF Bam Adebayo (High Point Christian, NC – Kentucky)
Adebayo is a strong and powerful post that is also a tremendous athlete. He runs the floor great, finishes everything with power, and even showed some emerging face up potential on a mid-range jump shot. Plus rebounder that will make an immediate impact at Kentucky.
SF Miles Bridges (Huntington Prep, WV – Michigan State)
Bridges has a never ending motor. He was moving non-stop even during the break times. The 6’7” small forward didn’t shoot it particularly well, but got to the rim and out in transition where he is spectacular finishing above the rim. Also pinned a Bradley shot against the glass after chasing him down. Bridges is a guy that you just want on your side!
