Class B Player of the Year: Will Reese
Anacoco wing Will Reese is accustomed to being the most valuable player whenever he steps onto the court. Last season’s Class B Player of the Year in Louisiana and the Top 28 Overall Most Outstanding Player has racked up the accolades while in high school.
The 6’5 Reese can play inside or out and is a real threat from anywhere on court, including deep range on his jumper. There is very little he can not do on the basketball court and that’s drawn interest from small D1’s as well. On the season he averaged 26.7 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists while leading Anacoco to a state championship for the 2nd straight year and being named the Class B Top 28 Most Outstanding Player for the 2nd year in a row. He will go down in history both at Anacoco and in the LHSAA.
His performance in the Top 28 was absolutely mesmerizing to watch. Against a young but very talented Grace Christian team with the size to combat him, he put up 25 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals to lead them to a victory. In the championship game he followed it up with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists against a smaller but physical Zwolle squad. There were comments from coaches both at the high school and college level that they felt he could do anything on the court and some school will be getting a steal if he chooses basketball over baseball.
Will Reese has grown into much more than the scorer he was earlier in his career. With real size and athleticism to play on the wing, he has added the ball handling and passing to not only get his but make those around him better. He’s one of those players that local schools have looked hard into with the hopes that he chooses basketball while some have gone as far as offering him the opportunity to play both. One thing is for certain though, when he takes the court there are very few who dare turn away.
