Class 2A Player of the Year: Robert Williams
Robert Williams got our vote for Mr. Basketball and with that is named the 2A Player of the Year. He’s had an absolutely incredible career at North Caddo and is sure to be a difference maker when he heads to Texas A&M soon. Texas A&M loses two senior forwards and the playing time for him is sure to open up right away.
The 6’9 forward can do just about anything you want on the basketball court and could be joined by another Louisiana prospect in 2017 Mitchell Robinson who is committed to Texas A&M. Whether it’s scoring on the block or stepping outside to knock down a shot or make a play off the bounce, he’s a serious threat. On the defensive end he protects the rim as well as most and proved that this summer as one of the top shot blockers in the EYBL. Stepping out and defending the wing is something he’s very capable of as well.
For the season, Williams averaged 25 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and while the blocks weren’t listed, there is little doubt he averaged over 5 for the season. In the Top 28 he had a monster game in his one game to be named to the All-Tournament team and almost got North Caddo past eventual champs Madison Prep in double time. The 25 points, 11 rebound, and 9 blocks officially were incredible and his impact on that game was much larger than that stat line. There are plenty other 2A candidates but his impact was as far reaching as you could ask for.
