Continue ReadingAnderson good from deep — In the game’s early moments, Lakeville came out hot. They were streaking to the rim and cutting through Osseo’s press. Allen Anderson, however, popped a pair of threes early to keep the Orioles in it, and then another step-back 3 to cut the deficit to four, 24-20.
A wild half — Lakeville North came out and shot at a VERY high rate… 66.7%, to be exact (thank you, stat crew). But along with those buckets came 12 turnovers forced by the scrappy Osseo press. All things considered, there was only a four-point gap at half.
Osseo won’t quit — A midrange jumper from Allen Anderson tied things up at 36-36 with 13 minutes left. The ball continued to fly around the floor as both teams slid across the hardwood. After North goes up by a bit, Osseo runs back and Mar Mar Hughes ties it up again at 48-48.
Cleaning the glass — Damario Armstrong went up for what could have been a big-time dunk from the big-time athlete, but Nate Reuvers came over the top and blocked him off the backboard. Then Lakeville runs down and Nick Fossey gets a timely put-back to put the Panthers back up with a minute left.
0-2 — Maybe not the best moment for Osseo… but Kyle Williams going 0-2 in a late trip to the FT line was huge for Lakeville. Fossey then went down and cashed 2-2 of his own. The result was a 56-53 North lead with 45 seconds left. Fossey ended up hitting six FTs late to seal the win for North.
Clutch late — Down 58-53, Allen Anderson pulled up with 13 seconds left and drained a crucial 3-pointer. That made 19 points for the senior who was playing to extend his career by one more game. A last-second heave was unrealistic as they were down by four… but Allen played his heart out in this one.
