Coronado vs Yuma Catholic – The Dons have been rolling. While not much was said about them until they upset Country Day in their sectional title game, they had quietly put together a nice resume winning all but three games in the calendar year. However, they face off against a Yuma Catholic team that has dominated all season, losing only to Division-III Copper Canyon. The Shamrocks are as good as any Division-IV team in the state. Expect them to, again, prove that Thursday.
Alchesay vs Pima – This will be a big time matchup as two teams who have sat in or near the top five all season finally face off. Both Pima and Alchesay have had similar victories throughout the season. The Falcons have won their last five while the Roughriders have 11 of their last 12 and 23 of their last 25. Pima has been primed for a game like this all season so expect them to come away with a victory.
American Leadership vs Buckeye Union – Another matchup with two teams who were strongly considered for the top five each an every week. Buckeye Union’s only two losses since December have come to the hands of Yuma Catholic, both single digit games. Similarly, American Leadership has only fell twice during the calendar year. This will a close matchup but the Hawks’ experience against a stronger schedule gives them the edge.
Arizona Lutheran vs Phoenix Country Day – A rematch from February 4th where the Eagles defeated ALA in a 21 point road win. PCD has only loss won game since December and for good reason. They are good on the defensive end and, while Arizona Lutheran can play with any team on any given night, the Eagles’ consistency on each and every play will, again, give the Coyotes trouble.
