Dunham, 11-0 on their home court before this game, jumped out to a double digit lead early in the 1st quarter and was up 24-15 after the 1st. They held that league for the entire game as it never got within 8 which is how it finished. The fast pace game saw Dunham and Christian Life each hit 9 three’s but Dunham come away with a big 79-71 victory to stay undefeated at home and in district after the first round of games.
Dunham
Tre Scott (6’0 PG, 2016) – Scott is well built guard who was in the zone in the 2nd half. After only scoring 2 in the first, he finished with 24 on the night with 3 made 3’s and 7/8 FT’s made. His poise under pressure on the ball was critical for Dunham.
Jordan Wright (6’4 G/F, 2019) – The sensational freshman scored 8 early before foul trouble had him sitting the entire 2nd quarter. He came back in attack mode and made numerous plays as a facilitator while doing the dirty work on defense inside.
Tyveon Spurlock (5’10 PG, 2019) – Another extremely talented freshman who found plenty of space to attack the rim finished with only 8 points but was crucial on defense and helping handle the press that CLA showed.
Salle Wilson (6’2 SG, 2020) – Not often do you get to see and 8th grader perform in a varsity game at this level but this game had two. Wilson for Dunham hit numerous big shots en route to 9 points and showed off some nice handles.
Christian Life
Sam Williams (6’0 PG, 2016) – The senior guard drew the ire of the Dunham student section all game but finished with 4 made 3’s and 25 points before fouling out. His leadership was obvious when he wasn’t in the game at times. Kept them in it all game.
Ludovic Kader (5’11 G, 2016) – Straight from France, Kader heard numerous USA chants at him during free throws. Had an off night but finished with 16 points and his athleticism was on full display. Could have attacked more.
Marquis Webb (6’2 G/F, 2017) – Webb couldn’t find his shot early but hit a few later to finish with 2 made 3’s and 8 points. Dunham respected his range all game and defended him tightly from half court and in, it’s that serious.
Kentrell Garnett (5’10 G, 2020) – The other 8th grader was Garnett and he was not afraid of the atmosphere at all. Stayed positive and encouraged teammates and did all he could late with 2 3’s in the 4th quarter. A lot of potential here.
