Although McClintock has recently been bumped from the state tournament, Washington’s playing career should not be over.
He currently holds offers from Arizona JUCOs such as: “Mesa Community College, Cochise, and Chandler-Gilbert”. In addition to offering him, Washington noted that Mesa Community College has been “recruiting me the hardest,” as they “have been to almost all of my home games:.
Although he does not have any offers other than junior colleges, Washington has been receiving interest from Division-II and Division-III schools in addition to Minot State.
Washington is in no rush to commit as he is hoping to do that in June after playing club basketball. He is not sure which organization he will be playing with but he has high hopes for this years club go around. In fact, he his hoping to improve his stock to the extent of getting a coveted Division-I offer. He stated, “I feel like I’m a Division-1 Point Guard. I’m blessed for the schools who are recruiting me, but I’m not quite satisfied with them because I want to play at the level I have always dreamed of playing at.”
It will be quite intriguing to see what the club experience brings Washington as he has improved his game tremendously. One of the biggest knocks that I heard around the state came in regards to his ability to shoot the basketball from deep. However, Washington shot the ball at almost a 33% rate from behind the line and averaged over one three pointer per game.
In addition to shooting it well from behind the line, Washington shot it well from the foul line as he hit 70%. This is huge as he plays a very physical brand of basketball that gets him to the foul line frequently. He does not play around with the basketball, he is efficient with his dribble as he does a good job of making a move, putting the shoulder down, and going north and south.
Keep an eye on this unsigned Senior as it would not be surprising to see him carve out more of a name for himself with some strong play in the summer.
