Ohio Christian University has offered the 6-foot-8 power forward, and he’s hoping to make a decision on where he’ll play in the next couple of months.
“Really at the moment I’ve been looking at Brandeis University (MA), University of Rochester, Calvin College, Kalamazoo College, as well at Wheaton College,” said Rinke.
“I have been able to weigh the positive and negatives, the Division III schools have very good academics, and the NAIA schools are good basketball schools and can give quite a bit more money. My number one focus the next couple, of months is to vet out what’s the best option.”
Rinke says college coaches have been pleased with his versatility in the post, and his ability to produce on both ends of the floor.
“I believe that my strengths are my versatility, that’s the number one thing that college coaches and other coaches around have commented on. They like how I can play the five, the four, and the three if needed. And the number one thing that really sets me apart is my rebounding capabilities,” said Rinke.
“Where I think I’ve improved the most in the past year would probably be my physicality and probably my awareness on the court. Being able to look at a situation, being able to read it and make the right decision.”
With his senior season winding down, Rinke reflected on what has been asked of him this winter, and what he’ll need to advance his team in the postseason.
“I’m a starter and I play quite a bit, I’m a presence down low, and they need me to rebound and contribute on the defensive end; whether that be to block shots, or taking a charge,” said Rinke. “Also our team has a lot of shooters, so having me as a low block scoring threat is important. We have a lot of shooters, so it makes us real difficult to defend.”
