Continue ReadingDe La Salle 2016 power forward Andre Raiford stands at 6’5” with a strong build and athleticism. He is mobile in the paint and explosive around the hoop. Flashes a couple of post moves and runs the floor in transition. Can hit a 10 foot jumper as well. Would be a good fit at a small college looking for a strong and athletic undersized post.
Raiford discussed his game.
“I see myself as a stretch three that can handle the ball at times, but mostly I prefer the post. I have good moves in the post and a nice free throw line jump shot. It is really my teammates. We work the ball around and get good looks to get each other open.”
What does he see his role as on the team
“I see myself playing a big role on the team. Scoring, defense, and all-around. I don’t have to just play one category. I don’t have to score all the points or get all the blocks. Play an all-around game.”
Chicago Demons was the team he ran with on the grassroots circuit. Raiford says a few colleges are actively recruiting him.
“I have Manchester University. They really want me. Knox College really wants me. Albion College and Roosevelt are also interested.”
Knox is a program he has visited.
“It is about three hours from home so it is not too far away. I like the campus and the atmosphere. I got to sit down with the team and talk to them. I got to run some games with them. See what they are like as a team and where I would fit in if I was to choose them. It was a really good experience overall. The coaches and atmosphere was very inviting.”
Manchester also received a visit from the De La Salle senior.
“It was pretty much the same. I got to run games with the team, talk to them, talk about the school life, how many classes you have a day, and what the practice schedule is like. You get up and lift. It really opened my eyes to what college basketball really is.”
