Fargo North
Kade Hoeg (5-foot-11, Senior, Point Guard)
- First strong play he made in the game was an excellent backside screen opening a teammate up for a flex cut And1 score.
- The lefty looks very comfortable attacking right or left.
- His team went zone defensively and his talk and directing of teammates in both directions was quality.
- In man to man he switched with a guy, talked through a return, his guy attacked and Kade beat him to the spot and then stole the ball followed by a quick transition pass (his teammate blew the lay-up).
- Defensively shows to have the knowledge of quality close-outs, good defensive talk, deep stance, seems to understands angles as well.
- Attacked baseline, pulled-up from seven feet before his man could recover to contest, hit the shot off the glass with his left. He had the space to go to the inside hand because of his quickness.
- Feet set, hit a college range jumper on a kickout. Good range it seems.
- Did a lot of ball handling later in the first half.
Matt Pietsch (6-foot-3, Junior, Small Forward)
- Another long wing that runs the floor well looking to get feet set and to cash in on the kickouts form the guards.
- Liked his touch catching and knocking down a pair of arc chances
- The junior has a good frame so he rebounds well for a three.
- Definitely like the consistency of his stroke. Looks like he could be a 40 percent shooter at the arc with feet set and decent size to see over the oncoming scramble.
Anders Kjar (6-foot-2, Junior, Small Forward)
- Came off the bench and hit back to back treys. Good size at 6-foot-2/6-foot-3 and the form and touch at his size are something that must be game planned for based on the way he shot in this game.
***Siman Sem was reviewed separately in a different artcle.
Fargo South
Ethan Wold (6-foot-4, Senior, Power Forward)
- Started the game with a huge swat of an elbow jumper and then race down to the post and sent another shot towards the lady selling South Bruin gear by the door. Active shot blocker it seemed by this sequence. Minutes later he stayed in good position and blocked a jumper out of a fading opponent’s hand.
- Like his post position. At 6-foot-4 his size is okay but had trouble getting quick enough lift to score inside but was fouled because of great position meaning his opponent couldn’t get an angle to defend against him.
- Don’t have big numbers but was the first player to grab attention with early effort.
Paul Zozimo (6-foot-0, Senior, Point Guard)
- A nice pace pusher. Seemed to handle all of the North ball pressure better than everyone else.
- Had a nice attack baseline leading his shoulder in, moving the defender back, and then extending to finish.
- Liked some of the things he did on defense. Turned guys very well and forced a couple turnovers. Looks like a strong guard that can stop a guy with his lateral step and can bump physically to alter the course.
- Attacked right in transition, brought the defender over, left a nice no-look pass to a teammate. Moments later he caught a reversal, attacked the gap in the zone bringing in four defenders, left a pass for a wide open cutter. Hits gaps well.
