PG Isaiah Malone (Lincoln Way Central – 2016)
Malone is a 5’11” lead guard that is fairly athletic. He is quick with the ball in his hands and his perimeter shooting caught fire in the second half. Hit a couple threes and mixed in several mid-range jumpers. Malone led his team to the victory with 19 points. D3/NAIA prospect.
PG Jarret Gmazel (Lincoln Way Central – 2016)
Gmazel started off with some lights out shooting to open the game. Very good in the catch and shoot with a quick release. Quiet game after fast start. He had 8 points.
SF Isaac Panfil (Lincoln Way Central – 2016)
Panfil is a long and rangy 6’4” wing with a thin build. Has a nose for the basketball always being there to get loose balls or make the little play. Had a nice offensive rebound put back. Panfil is an active defender. Finished with 4 points.
PF Jon Marotta (Lincoln Way West – 2016)
Marotta is one of the better unsigned senior posts in the state. He played mostly on the interior in this game. Started off slow with several turnovers early. Got to the free throw line where he converted and ran the floor hard. Marotta had a nice and-1. His go to move in the post is sealing his man off in the high/low game. Guards had problems connecting most of the night on this play. Missed the only perimeter shots he took. Usually is effective mid-range shooter as a stretch four. Willing passer. Cuts strong away from the ball. Was average rebounding. Marotta will need to add strength at the next level to his long and rangy frame. Worth a look for D2, D3, and NAIA programs.
G Marco Pettinato (Lincoln Way West – 2017)
Pettinato stands at 6’2” with broad shoulders. He is best moving without the basketball where he gets open and can hit open shots from deep. Had a nice stroke on one triple and another pull-up. Crisp passes. He is not the most athletic guard and struggled finishing in the paint through traffic in this one. The junior finished with 10 points. Projects as a combo guard at the next level. We will be watching him closely this spring.
