Herb McGee (2016 Guard) Commits
Herb McGee is a 2016 guard out of Riverside who last night made his decision to commit to South Alabama public through twitter then kindly took the time to answer some questions about that decision. Expected to play both guard positions at USA, McGee is familiar running a team or playing off the ball. McGee played with Louisiana Elite on the Under Armour Circuit this past summer.
There were multiple factors that went into his signing, the first as McGee said, “Them showing me that they wanted me.” It was no secret that South Alabama made Herb a priority in their recruitment. Another major factor was, “The academics and their students acceptance rate into med school.” He noted in his tweet below the “opportunity to become a pediatrician”.
With Herb being a football standout as well, some schools couldn’t figure out which sport he would choose. This decision puts that to rest and South Alabama made no qualms about their desire to have him play on the basketball court and that resonated with McGee. Being only a few hours from home means family and friends can still come support him.
South Alabama gets an absolute winner with Herb McGee. An athlete who has already accomplished more on the court than most could dream of. With three straight state titles and Riverside looking for it’s 4th straight, winning is something he’s accustomed to and looks to bring to USA.
Recently, we released an article with he and his teammate who he’s won so much with at the top of the available guards list and now after this commitment, both are off the board (Crowfield committed to VCU recently). Below is the tweet McGee used to announce his commitment.
