Heritage Christian (1-14) – Guerin Catholic (9-11) – 7:30 PM ET
Heritage Christian isn’t off to a great start but they get an opportunity early in the week to go against Guerin, who is also having a down year. Guerin is always well coached by Pete Smith but the loss of some of their top talent makes this a much closer game than it should be. PREDICTION: Guerin Catholic
TUESDAY:
Tipton (14-0) vs. Eastern (Greentown) (13-5) – 7:30 PM ET
Tipton is off to a great start going undefeated but things get tricky here at the end of the year and it starts with Eastern who is also having a solid season. Will give Tipton the edge in this one but could be a string of close games for Tipton the next few weeks. PREDICTION: Tipton
Fort Wayne Carroll (16-3) vs. Fort Wayne North (15-4) – 7:30 PM ET
This is a battle between the two best teams in the Fort Wayne area this year. Carroll hasn’t been as tested as North but they are probably the more consistent team to this point. Both teams have firepower and it could be one of the better games of the year. North took the matchup between the two earlier in the year so Carroll will be looking for payback. PREDICTION: Fort Wayne Carroll
Lake Central (12-7) vs. East Chicago Central (13-4) – 8:00 PM ET
This could be a preview of the upcoming Sectional 1 Championship game. LC always tends to have solid seasons and this one is no different. East Chicago has strung a 6-game winning streak together against a good lineup. Beating LC would be solid, but difficult win. PREDICTION: East Chicago Central
WEDNESDAY:
Evansville Bosse (8-8) vs. Boonville (8-8) – 8:00 PM ET
Bosse has a ton of talent but they have struggled to put it together consistently this year. Boonville is looking at their first chance at being over .500 since 2010-11 season. They have three difficult games this week and they are going to have to steal one if they want to stay over .500. PREDICTION: Evansville Bosse
THURSDAY:
Evansville Harrison (13-3) vs. Evansville Reitz (15-3) – 8:00 PM ET
Two of the best teams from down in Evansville matchup this week with Harrison heading to Reitz. Reitz has done better than expected after they lost so much of their team and are a legit contender to make another run. Harrison has been very good as well and only have what you would consider good losses. True test for both teams heading towards Sectionals. PREDICTION: Evansville Harrison
Crispus Attucks (13-4) vs. Indianapolis Tindley (14-4) – 7:30 PM ET
A week after Eric Hunter dropped 50 points for Tindley, they look to take on another small school team that likes to put up points. This should be a fun, fast paced game but Attucks should have the advantage with a little more size and speed. Tindley has the shotmakers though so things could go back-and-forth. PREDICTION: Crispus Attucks
FRIDAY:
Barr-Reeve (16-3) vs. South Knox (12-6) – 7:30 PM ET
This is a rematch from an epic battle last year at Graber Post at North Daviess. Both teams aren’t as great as last year but they are certainly very good. Barr-Reeve is without a ton of it’s size and Knox doesn’t have as many playmakers as last year. However, these two teams should fill up the gym and make it a crazy battle. PREDICTION: Barr-Reeve
Ben Davs (12-7) vs. Lawrence North (14-5) – 7:30 PM ET
Ben Davis has struggled to find consistency this season. Lawrence North has started to put this team together since around Christmas time but have yet to get that high profile win. Ben Davis doesn’t represent that but they are still a very good team. The game in the paint might be the most interesting in this matchup. Tons of size. PREDICTION: Lawrence North
Leo (12-6) vs. Columbia City (14-5) – 7:45 PM ET
If you like tall forwards that can shoot the ball and drive, this is probably the game you should watch. The Hazen brothers and Dylan Barrow will make this fun to watch. Barrow has had some big time games this season but he’ll need his teammates to help in this one. PREDICTION: Columbia City
Pike (15-4) vs. North Central (16-2) – 7:30 PM ET
North Central continues to be one of the best teams in the state and they get challenged every game here in the later part of the season. Teams bring up their play when they face them. Pike should do the same and it will be interesting to see if Pike’s press will cause issues for NC. If it does, this could be a tight one. PREDICTION: North Central
SATURDAY:
Fort Wayne Carroll (16-3) vs. Carmel (11-6) – 7:30 PM ET
At the end of the year, Carroll always seems to travel down to Indianapolis to get a true test right before Sectionals begin. This time, they get two games with the first being Carmel. Carmel has played better than expected and the emergence of Sterling Brown has really helped. Carroll has a ton of talent and size so matchups will be among the things to watch. PREDICTION: Fort Wayne Carroll
Hamilton Southeastern (12-7) vs. Warsaw (18-0) – 7:30 PM ET
Hamilton Southeastern has struggled through the season dropping games it shouldn’t and winning a few others that seemed out of reach. Warsaw is undefeated this season with quite a few really good wins. None that jump off the page. They end the season with three really tough games, HSE, Carmel, and Fort Wayne Carroll. Doubt they make it through that gauntlet but the first looks like the easiest. PREDICTION: Warsaw
Mt. Vernon (Fortville) (16-2) vs. Lawrence Central (14-5) – 7:30 PM ET
Mt. Vernon could be a team that makes some noise this postseason. They seem to be the favorite in Sectional 9 and so Lawrence Central presents a possible preview of a Regional matchup. LC is likely to get the win but how Mt. Vernon fairs could be interesting in a few weeks. PREDICTION: Lawrence Central
