Norview High School
#2 Elijah Blue-
Elijah had a big defensive impact for the Pilots as he constantly made smart rotations and always seemed to be ready in the help position. He also showed to be a gritty player with a willingness to do the little things to help his team.
#3 Kevin Marks-
Kevin played strong on-ball defense from start to finish to help stop Bethel’s back court from finding their rhythm. With a quick lateral step, he was able to cut off the Bruins attempted drives and kept them from finding an angle to the rim.
#5 Jaylen Frazier
Jaylen Frazier was active on both ends of the court and proved he was willing to put in the effort it would take for his team to come away victorious. Throughout the contest he challenged shots in the paint and attacked the glass at every opportunity. He also did an outstanding job keeping Bethel’s monster big man from establishing any type of post position or grabbing too many boards.
#11 Keyontae Johnson
Keyontae stepped up big on the offensive side of ball, scoring key buckets at crucial points during the game. With his jumper splashing early on, he was able to take advantage of the defenses adjustments and find open driving lanes for some tough finishes inside. He ended up with a team high of 15 points and showed the ability to produce in a high pressure game.
#22 William Steger
William set the pace for Norview by making good reads and smart decisions in transition. He seemed to have a knack for pushing the ball when an opportunity presented itself or slowing things down when necessary. He also displayed good ball handling skills and was able to weave inside the defense for some easy lay-ups.
#23 Lamont Steward
Lamont quietly made a big impact by simply doing whatever his team needed from him. On the offensive end, he used a multitude of moves including shot fakes and spin moves to finish inside over the near 7 footer. Defensively, he played tough on whoever he was assigned to and looked to secure the rebound after every shot. He ended up with a double-double of 10 points and 13 boards for the night.
Bethel High School
#0 Justin Nedd
Justin worked hard to get his team into their offensive sets and did well carrying the ball handling duties. He showed good court vision and always looked to get his team mates the ball in scoring position.
#5 Cameron Bacote
Cameron constantly attacked Norview’s defense every time he had the chance and showed his scoring ability from multiple spots on the floor. He seemed to have the most success with the ball at the top of the key where a quick trigger allowed for open jumpers or room for a quick move to the basket.
#11 Kyle Foster
Kyle did a good job moving without the ball to keep the defensive honest and create open shots for himself. With a quick release he was able to knock down jumpers from the wing on the catch and shoot, or put the ball on the floor when over played for a pull-up jumper.
#24 Jerimiah Owusu
Jerimiah was a threat to score every time he caught the ball on the wing. Even with the defense sagging off for the drive, he was able to muscle his way to the rim and finish on both sides with contact. He also demonstrated good on-ball defense, stopping many potential drives by the Norview guards. He led all scorers with 23 on the night.
#23 Dajour Dickens
Dajour made his presence in the paint felt throughout the night, making sure nothing came easy inside for the Pilots. Using his length and anticipation he was able contest or block nearly every shot inside 10 feet. He also was a force on the glass, finding a way to grab boards while being boxed out by multiple players at times.
