THE TEAMS YOU SHOULD WATCH: Hammond, Centennial, Glenelg, Stephen Decatur
WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH THEM: This is a curious region as no team really stands out after regular-season play. Stephen Decatur’s numbers are the most impressive with a 20-2 record and a very strong regular season. What could be interesting here is they are on the Eastern Shore — three hours away — and as the top seed in Section II could force just about everyone else to come to them. Centennial is the top seed in Section I. Tom Brown has been scoring nearly 20 points per game this season, but the Eagles have won a lot of close games. Still, they were 12-8 after the regular season. Glenelg, a Howard County rival, has been just hanging around the .500 mark all season long. The Gladiators have shown offense but need more consistency. Hammond, another team from Howard County, brings balance with four players in double figures, topped by Brandon Willis (20.9 ppg).
