WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH THEM: Westlake is a team that features lots of offense from lots of places. It has five players who averaged in double figures in the regular season, led by Aubrey Wallace (14.3) and Everett Mouton (13.8). The Wolverines averaged 72.7 points per game this season and scored over 80 six times and topped 100 once. They lost in last year’s Class 3A state title game and could be tough to be in 2A. This could be one of the toughest regions overall as Patuxent (16-6, led by Darus Maddox’s 24.5 ppg and Terell Gross averaging 12.5) can generate plenty of offense. Gwynn Park (21-2) and Douglass-PG also are tough on the other side of the region. For Gwynn Park, the Yellow Jackets need to bounce back after a loss to Eleanor Roosevelt in the county title game Wednesday. Douglass can also come up with lots of points in different ways. Four different players averaged in double figures, led by Cameron Hayes (20.5). Any of these four teams could take the region title but whoever wins it is going to have to go through some tough opposition.
