Gordon’s play was impressive as he finished 6-for-9 from 3-point range. His long range shooting was just part of Cathedral’s impressive display from deep. Morehead State commit Jordan Walker finished with 25 points as he went 6-for-12 from deep. Cathedral as a team shot 16-for-32 from 3-point range in the game.
“When we starting getting on a roll hitting our shots, its tough,” Cathedral head coach Andy Fagan said. “It puts a lot of pressure on the defense because we have a number of guys that can get by on the bounce and create, but yeah, we just had it going tonight at a pretty high level.”
The two seniors play was matched by excellent play from an impressive junior class at Ben Davis.
This group was led by 6-foor-5 junior Josh Brewer, who finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. He demonstrated an ability to hit a jumper and attack the glass when needed.
The Giants also saw 5-foot-11 Datrion Harper score 16 points to go with three rebounds and three assists. Harper was able to consistently get into the lane, draw contact and convert from the free throw lane. He finished 9-for-13 from the foul line. Junior LeShaun Minor, listed at 6-foot-3, was able to show off moves when he got the ball on the block. He finished with 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting for the game to go with four rebounds.
The Giants also got a strong game from sophomore Aaron Henry. Henry was able to finish with 11 points and tacked on a few rebounds and assist.
This group kept the Little Giants close in the game, including closing to within two points in the final 30 seconds, but Gordon and Walker’s strong games on senior night was too much to overcome.
“It is my senior night, have a lot of friends here and just hit my first shot and knew it would be a pretty good game,” Gordon said.
