Sectional 41 – Hagerstown
The draw for Sectional 41 is a little lopsided with Northeastern, Winchester, and Union County all on one side but the first and second best teams did get put on opposite sides. It sets up for a potential Hagerstown/Northeastern Championship game. The problem is Northeastern has already beaten Hagerstown twice, by 6 and then by 26. They are also 8-0 against Sectional opponents. Would be tough to see anyone taking them down.
Sectional 42 – Shenandoah
Shenandoah has had a great season to this point but their toughest test should come in the Championship game if this go chalk where they could face Indianapolis Howe. Now, Howe has had a few questionable losses and if they come out flat, things could go south for them. Will be interesting to see how long of a run Howe can put together and if they can get past the 19-2 Shenandoah team.
Sectional 43 – Broad Ripple
The best matchup of this Sectional will take place at 6:00 PM on Tuesday when Covenant Christian takes on Broad Ripple. This isn’t the toughest Sectional, though, so the second round matchups look to be pretty easy. The way the first round shakes out will probably be the biggest tell of who will win this group.
Sectional 44 – Southmont
There aren’t any bad teams in this Sectional but only really two teams that could compete beyond the Sectional in Cloverdale and Monrovia. They are split on different sides of the bracket so things are set up for a solid championship if things go chalk. Watch out for Southmont, a team with a few big wins this season. They could make a run after getting the first round bye.
Sectional 45 – Southwestern (Hanover)
This is about as even of a draw based on records as you could get. South Ripley should be the favorite heading in with a 6-0 record against their Sectional. No one else has more than two wins against fellow Sectional opponents. Ripley, with their first round bye, would take a big time effort to trip up.
Sectional 46 – Paoli
One team that really looks like they could make a deep run in the southern part of the state is Providence. They have some really nice wins and have played well against the best on their schedule even up to 4A. Henryville is a decent team but got a tough draw as they would have to beat Paoli and Crawford County before seeing a likely Providence team waiting in the Championship game.
Sectional 47 – North Knox
The North Knox Sectional is the toughest in 2A and for a good reason. Barr-Reeve, South Knox, Eastern Greene, and Linton-Stockton, those are four teams that could be sitting at Semistate or later. A potential second round of games with Linton/Eastern Greene and Barr-Reeve/South Knox might be the best day of games you’ll see this tournament. Too close to give a prediction but is worth the price of admission.
Sectional 48 – Jasper
Forest Park will look at this draw and be pretty happy about it. They are 16-5 on the year and of the two teams they could meet after their first round bye will have won 11 games combined at this point in the season. Now, watch out for Evansville Mater Dei. If Devan Straub goes off they can beat some good teams and they will have to do so just to get to the Championship game. Forest Park holds the advantage right now but this looks like a Sectional that could be all sorts of messed up at the end.
