SF Devonire Glass (Simeon)
Glass was one of the breakout players of the NY2LA Sports Futures Camp in October. The long and rangy 6’6” small forward has the look of a D1 prospect. He proved he can put it on the deck with ease handling it through traffic and splitting defenders. Smooth looking shot that he knocked down from mid-range with consistency and stretched it to three on occasion. Great feel for the game and even displayed some passing instincts. Defensively has a chance to be very good. One of the better upside 2018 prospects in the state. He has not played for the Wolverines due to his transfer from a high school in Indiana.
SG Javon Freeman (Seton)
At 6’4” Freeman has long arms and a rangy frame. He can really handle the basketball getting in and out of tight spaces with ease. Freeman has an excellent feel for the game of when to score and pass. He has a mature understanding for a sophomore to go along with plus athleticism. The Seton 2018 prospect is a good passer that has some combo guard potential with his passing. Defensively has upside as his length causes problems for opponents.
SF Talen-Horton Tucker (Simeon)
The small forward continues to elevate his game and he is the sophomore on a team loaded with prospects in that class who is making an impact on the varsity level. The 6’4” wing is a consistent three point shooter that knocks them down on a regular basis. Has improved his handles and athleticism keeps getting better. Rebounds well for position. The Simeon vets seem to trust him too.
SF Malik Hall (Metea Valley)
Hall has a lot of intriguing tools. The 6’5” small forward has a long and lanky frame with a very young look to him. He should continue to grow and get stronger. Hall likes the pull up jumper and is an effective catch and shoot guy from three. Would like to see more assertiveness off the bounce from the smooth wing. He does hit the glass well for his position. Needs to be on the radar for D1 programs.
SG Landers Nolley (Curie)
Nolley is a 6’5” shooting guard that transferred into Curie from Georgia that has had some hype. Flashed some of that ability early in the season when we have evaluated him. He has great height for his position with long arms and solid strength. Looks good in transition. Smooth athlete that has a clean looking jump shot. Plus catch and shoot three point threat. Potential as a passer.
SF Naseer Turner (Kenwood)
Turner has a long and rangy frame to where he should continue to grow. He is silky smooth with the basketball in his hands and can even play the point forward role for stretches. Gets anywhere he wants on the floor with relative ease. Turner has a good looking shooting stroke with range that stretches out to beyond the arc. Once he adds strength this could be one of the more intriguing wing prospects in the sophomore class across the state.
SF Caleb Strohmeier (Edwardsville)
The Edwardsville 6’6” small forward impresses with his combination of length and strength on both ends of the floor. He handles it well for a wing and looks very crisp in everything he does on the court. The sophomore has a quality skill level with his ability to both handle it and stretch the floor with a jumper. Also displays nice bounce around the hoop where he fights hard on the glass and finishes strong. If he keeps growing could develop into a stretch four, but already is worth being on the college radar with his physical tools and game.
SG Jayden Gasby (Urban Prep Englewood)
This physically built 6’4” two guard put himself on the radar at the Hinsdale Central Tournament. Gadsby has a strong and physical build. He is powerful attacking off the bounce getting in the lane where he finishes in traffic and can also hit a mid-range jumper. Defensively he was solid. Where he really impressed was on the glass. He was a dominant force on the boards! One to continue to monitor.
