It all starts with the state’s premier lead guard and that is Morgan Park’s Ayo Dosunmu. The explosive guard has transitioned to his new team and not only started, but made an impact across the board in every game we have seen. He is a high major prospect and college coaches will realize that this summer!
A pair of other Chicago city guards follow in Xavier Castaneda (Whitney Young) and Marquan Williams (Perspectives). Castaneda is a pass first point guard that has an advanced feel and slick handles. Williams is an explosive scorer that can fill it up in a hurry and on the circuit proved to be a quality distributor. Chase Adams (Marian Catholic) and Kaleb Thornton (Nazareth) are jet quick point guards with speed and vision in the transition game. Two other guards to watch are the sharp shooting Kenny Strawbridge (Rockford Lutheran) and the defensive minded Brandon Hurt (Marian Catholic).
Some central Illinois point guards to keep an eye on over the next few years are Kendle Moore (Danville), Thomas Hughes (United Township), and Bailey Dee (Champaign Central). There are a lot more names behind these guys that have put themselves on the radar across the state.
