Participating Teams: Bloomfield, Clay City, Eminence, North Central (Farmersburg), Shakamak, White River Valley.
In the past this has been a Sectional with 2 or 3 teams that were pretty good, this year that isn’t the case. Bloomfield will run away with this one as the #3 ranked 1A team at 19-3. Shakamak is the team closest to Bloomfield with a 10-12 record but Bloomfield beat them in the regular season 84-49.
Sectional 58 – Bethesda Christian
Participating Teams: Bethesda Christian, Indiana School for the Deaf, Indiana Math & Science, Indianapolis Metropolitan, International, Tindley, University.
This is a pretty decent Sectional at the top with Bethesda Christian, Tindley, and University. Tindley has the obvious upper hand with being the #4 team in 1A but they only beat University by five early in the year. This will produce a probable rematch of Tindley and University on Friday night which Tindley should win but they could have a real test.
Sectional 59 – Edinburgh
Participating Teams: Central Christian Academy, Edinburgh, Greenwood Christian Academy, Indianapolis Arlington, Indianapolis Lutheran, Morristown.
None of these teams are anything to write home about, but with that being said, there are a few decent teams highlighted by Arlington and Lutheran. These two teams have the highest probability of winning the Sectional and they meet in the first game, they haven’t played yet this year and this game should be the best in the sectional.
Sectional 60 – South Decatur
Participating Teams: Hauser, Jac-Cen-Del, Oldenburg Academy, Rising Sun, South Decatur, Southwestern, Waldron.
This Sectional favors 1A #12 Jac-Cen-Del but the winner may just be the team who gets the best draw since there are four teams above .500 and two teams that are really close. No one really got a favorable draw since all the teams are pretty good and really any team could come out of the Sectional but Jac-Cen-Del does have the obvious upper hand.
Sectional 61 – West Washington
Participating Teams: Borden, Crothersville, Medora, Orleans, Trinity Lutheran, West Washington.
Like Sectional 60 there are a few good teams in this one and it may come down to whoever has the best draw. Each team has lost to another in the Sectional and there aren’t any standout teams. Both sides of the bracket are pretty even though and this will just come down to whoever gets hot this week.
Sectional 62 – New Washington
Participating Teams: Christian Academy, Lanesville, New Washington, Rock Creek Academy, Shawe Memorial, South Central (Elizabeth).
This is another Sectional where you can’t really pick a winner in and be confident. There are four teams that have a shot and once again this one comes down to if someone gets a good draw and once again no one really came out with one that they can make it easier than the other. The team that wins this will just get hot this week.
Sectional 63 – Loogootee
Participating Teams: Loogootee, North Daviess, Shoals, Vincennes Rivet, Washington Catholic.
This Sectional is also wide open with no dominating team although North Daviess does not have a loss to the field. No team is more than one game above .500 and this may come down to who has a better week as most of the Sectionals in the Southern part of the state will.
Sectional 64 – Tecumseh
Participating Teams: Cannelton, Evansville Day, Northeast Dubois, Springs Valley, Tecumseh, Wood Memorial.
This sectional is also pretty wide open the top four teams could take home the crown. I would give the advantage to Wood Memorial who is the #14 team in 1A but they may not even be the best team in this bracket. Like so many sectionals this may come down to who gets hot this week.
